Class Descriptions
 

Hatha Yoga systematically stretches and strengthens muscles throughout the body, increases circulation to internal organs and glands, quiets the nervous system and improves concentration. This ancient system of self-care promotes health, vitality, deep relaxation, and peace of mind.

 

Ashtanga Yoga is an energizing form of yoga incorporating breath awareness with a flowing sequence of postures. Ashtanga helps you generate internal heat, detoxify and increase metabolic function, facilitating weight loss.

 

Anusara Yoga is a “heart-oriented†style of yoga, spiritually inspiring and yet grounded in a deep knowledge of optimal body alignment in the poses. (Some yoga experience suggested.)

 

Pilates is based on the teachings of Joseph H. Pilates. Practiced regularly this therapeutic form of exercise helps restore proper body alignment while strengthening and toning muscles. Pilates may help reduce risk of spinal injury and aid in recovery by stabilizing core muscles.

 

Belly Dancing is a joyful, creative art. Beginner series introduces basic stance, hip circles and basic Egyptian walk. During each intermediate series a choreographed dance routine will be taught using the movements from the beginner class. Props, i.e. veils and skirts may be needed for the intermediate classes; these will be provided by Taisir at an additional charge. Music CDs are also available for sale.

 

Chair Yoga - modified yoga postures recommended for those who may have difficulty getting onto the floor or standing for prolonged periods.
